Welcome to our Bridal Showcase Evening

I’m really excited to be collaborating with some fabulous Staffordshire wedding businesses in a few weeks’ time for our Bridal Showcase, on November 16th, right here in the building that houses my studio! We’re planning a relaxed evening for you, starting with a glass of prosecco on arrival, you’ll be able to see a variety of bridal looks on models, hear about bridal trends, visit my studio and enjoy drinks from the bar too.

The event takes place at Spout Brew House in Leek, Staffordshire, which is a quirky café and bar, perfect for a bridal showcase where you’ll feel relaxed, and can talk to suppliers one to one too, like at a wedding fair, but hopefully much more informally. My studio is on the top floor above Spout, so as well as seeing my bridal accessories as part of the show, you’ll be able to see the rest of my collection, where it’s made, and make appointments for your bridal consultation too.

This event was the idea of the lovely Emma from the bridal boutique The Bridal Quarters here in Leek. Emma will be showcasing a range of premium gowns and bridal separates on the evening, which will be styled with my handmade wedding accessories.  Bridal make up is by Elayne Moore and hair by Kerry Louise, flowers by the Tiny Florist, with Steve Sutton Photography also present on the evening. We’ll all be available to chat to you about your wedding and how we can help you style it.

Great things happen when people work together, and we can’t wait to share what we love doing with you, and send you away feeling excited with lots of inspiration for your wedding.

Looking at nature's inspiration for my jewellery designs

If you look closely at my bridal accessories and wedding jewellery you'll see that many of the details are inspired by nature. I live in the Staffordshire Moorlands on the edge of the Peak District with its wild moors, beautiful meadows and abundant hedgerows. I love to go walking, well meandering really, as it tends to be slow while I take lots of photos and absorb what the season has to offer! As a jewellery designer I feel lucky to be surrounded by such natural inspiration.

The Carina hair pin set featuring freshwater pearls, has detail inspired by a tiny plant called shepherd's purse, which has delicate heart shaped seed pods. I think this is the subtlest way of including a heart in your bridal look, don't you?

I'm afraid I'm not sure what the other plant was that inspired the central stem. I confess to loving it and stealing a tiny bit from a flower arrangement  from the café below my studio to put on my desk for inspiration whilst I was making! The café has fresh flowers every week, part foraged and part from the florist's allotment - they are always seasonal and beautiful!

I love the hedgerows in spring and summer with their beautiful frothy white flowers that dance in the breeze  throughout the spring and summer. Starting with cow parsley in April, moving on to hogweed and then angelica and wild carrot in late summer.

If you look carefully at these flowers each head is made up of tiny flowers and then each flower of tiny, often slightly lopsided, heart shaped petals. This nature inspired hair pin features tiny wire flowers with freshwater pearls at their centre, and is named after one of its inspirations – Angelica.
