Bridal Accessory Ideas for an Elegant Winter Wedding
There have been a few beautiful frosty morning recently and there have been some beautiful colours to take inspiration from for a winter wedding. If you are like me, and are a bit biased toward the luscious colours that will come in spring and summer, then you could easily dismiss winter colours as being a bit dismal, but look closely at the details in nature and you will find some gentle tones that will add a subtle touch of colour to your winter wedding accessories, and bring a truly seasonal touch to your winter wedding.

There are beautiful shades of soft blues and greys in the sunshine reflected off the snow, bronze and golden tones from the dried wildflowers, like the moorland heather shown in the photo, which add warmth to the palette. The frost on seedheads provide inspiration for a little sparkle, perhaps using crystal beads with an aurora borealis finish to reflect the light.
You could choose to add these colours to silver accessories as pictured here in my Belaflore hairvine and Mirabella earrings, this piece would work equally well made with golden wire or even bronze coloured wire. Read more about customising or commissioning a bespoke piece here.
Alternatively, you could use this colour palette for the whole of your wedding – with bridesmaids in a beautiful shade of soft grey or blue, and using these colour accents in your stationery and table decorations for example. In which case you might decide that accessories in one colour might be the thing for example my Ornella headband in gold or silver, or my Ornella hairvine, again in gold or silver.

Welcome to our Bridal Showcase Evening
I’m really excited to be collaborating with some fabulous Staffordshire wedding businesses in a few weeks’ time for our Bridal Showcase, on November 16th, right here in the building that houses my studio! We’re planning a relaxed evening for you, starting with a glass of prosecco on arrival, you’ll be able to see a variety of bridal looks on models, hear about bridal trends, visit my studio and enjoy drinks from the bar too.

The event takes place at Spout Brew House in Leek, Staffordshire, which is a quirky café and bar, perfect for a bridal showcase where you’ll feel relaxed, and can talk to suppliers one to one too, like at a wedding fair, but hopefully much more informally. My studio is on the top floor above Spout, so as well as seeing my bridal accessories as part of the show, you’ll be able to see the rest of my collection, where it’s made, and make appointments for your bridal consultation too.

Staffordshire Wedding Suppliers
This event was the idea of the lovely Emma from the bridal boutique The Bridal Quarters here in Leek. Emma will be showcasing a range of premium gowns and bridal separates on the evening, which will be styled with my handmade wedding accessories. Bridal make up is by Elayne Moore and hair by Kerry Louise, flowers by the Tiny Florist, with Steve Sutton Photography also present on the evening. We’ll all be available to chat to you about your wedding and how we can help you style it.

Bespoke Accessories
How to custom design your bridal accessories with me

You’ve had a look through my wedding accessories and jewellery, and are drawn to the intricacy and delicacy of my designs, but perhaps you’d like something created just for you? You might be looking for a tweak in one of my designs, say changing the colours to match your theme, or perhaps you are looking at one of my hair combs, but a headpiece is what you are looking for, or perhaps it will be a completely new, unique design! This is where commissioning me to make a bespoke wedding accessory comes in.
Here’s how to do it in five easy steps
1. Gather together the inspiration that you already have, for example, pictures of your dress, your wedding colour palette, and any ideas you have about your hair. Look through my designs and pick out a few that really speak to you. You may already have a wedding inspiration Pinterest board*, that will also be useful in the process.

2. Have a think about your budget and when you need your accessory before the wedding, read advice about this in the costs and timescales section on the bespoke page on my website.

3. Make an appointment for a one to one, free, no obligation consultation. This could be in my studio in Staffordshire, where you can view and try my wedding accessories in person, or it could be arranged remotely via Zoom or another app. During your consultation we’ll look through your inspiration and discuss ideas and I’ll help you to narrow down what you are looking for. I’ll ask questions, make notes and may be rough sketches of ideas too. I have a vast collection of beads and wires and we can explore the options that will work for your design.

5. I will be able to give you a rough idea of costs at the consultation, these will be estimates. After our consultation I’ll review everything that we’ve discussed and get back to you with a no obligation quote within a week. Once you are happy with your design there’ll be a non refundable deposit of 50% before I can start making, with the balance due before delivery or collection. Once work is started I’ll keep you up to date with progress so you’ll be able to see your bespoke wedding accessory or custom bridal jewellery coming together.

I love working with brides and enjoy sharing in the excitement of your big day. So if you are feeling excited and inspired at the prospect of working together to create something special for your wedding day get in touch to make an appointment, I can’t wait to hear all about your ideas!
*Pinterest is a fantastic tool for inspiration and communicating the style that you like, but do bear in mind that any good designer won’t copy the work of another designer. I want to use my creative skills and experience to make something beautiful. Just. For. You.

If you are looking for inspiration for an autumn wedding you need look no further than nature itself. The trees are full of golden tones, bronzes and soft greens, flowers and berries provide hints of deep berry red. If you catch an autumn sunset you’ll see hues of muted pinks and gold. You can pick out these colours in many ways in your autumn wedding, including your wedding accessories and jewellery. |

Behind the Scenes
Looking at nature's inspiration for my jewellery designs |
If you look closely at my bridal accessories and wedding jewellery you'll see that many of the details are inspired by nature. I live in the Staffordshire Moorlands on the edge of the Peak District with its wild moors, beautiful meadows and abundant hedgerows. I love to go walking, well meandering really, as it tends to be slow while I take lots of photos and absorb what the season has to offer! As a jewellery designer I feel lucky to be surrounded by such natural inspiration. |

The Carina hair pin set featuring freshwater pearls, has detail inspired by a tiny plant called shepherd's purse, which has delicate heart shaped seed pods. I think this is the subtlest way of including a heart in your bridal look, don't you? |
![]() |
I'm afraid I'm not sure what the other plant was that inspired the central stem. I confess to loving it and stealing a tiny bit from a flower arrangement from the café below my studio to put on my desk for inspiration whilst I was making! The café has fresh flowers every week, part foraged and part from the florist's allotment - they are always seasonal and beautiful! |
![]() |
I love the hedgerows in spring and summer with their beautiful frothy white flowers that dance in the breeze throughout the spring and summer. Starting with cow parsley in April, moving on to hogweed and then angelica and wild carrot in late summer. |
![]() |
If you look carefully at these flowers each head is made up of tiny flowers and then each flower of tiny, often slightly lopsided, heart shaped petals. This nature inspired hair pin features tiny wire flowers with freshwater pearls at their centre, and is named after one of its inspirations – Angelica. |

Welcome to Judith Brown Bridal
The Wedding Accessories Collection for Autumn 2021I'm so excited to welcome you to this brand new website and to introduce you to my new collection of wedding accessories and bridal jewellery! |
![]() |
Just for BridesAlthough I've been making jewellery and accessories since 2004 as Judith Brown Jewellery, earlier this year I made the exciting decision to create a new website dedicated to brides and to bring my bridal accessories to centre stage to make them shine for all to see! This launch is the fulfillment of a long held dream and the culmination of six months work. |
The CollectionsI make a range of handmade bridal hair accessories, including hair combs, hair pins, headpieces, hair vines and statement wedding crowns. Alongside wedding jewellery such as necklaces, earrings and bracelets to complement these pieces for brides and bridesmaids too. |
A Love of NatureMy designs have been heavily influenced by my love of nature. I live in the Staffordshire Moorlands on the edge of the Peak District and regularly go out walking to photograph and savour the changing seasons with the tiny details of the plants and flowers in the hedgerows and meadows that surround me. |
HandmadeAll of my designs are handmade. I start with reels of wire, beautiful glass beads and pearls and create using just my hands and my favourite pliers. Unlike some other makers I don't buy in metal leaf and flower components to work into my designs, I make them all myself with wire and beads. |
BespokeIf you feel inspired by what you see in my collections, but it's not quite what you are looking for I offer a bespoke design service. Get in touch to make an appointment for a free bridal consultation, either in person at my studio or remotely by phone or Zoom. |
